UNITED STATES, September 2, 2026 - Google and Central Orbit today announced an expansion of their existing Circular Energy Platform partnership to deploy 30 facilities across the United States by 2032. Following successful deployments in Latin America (Uruguay) and Europe, the partnership is now extending into the North American market.

The expanded partnership represents a transformative approach to data center power, converting municipal solid waste (MSW) into clean, reliable electricity that will power Google's data center operations across multiple US regions. The location for the initial facilities will be determined in the upcoming near future, with strategic partnerships to be established with local waste management companies to create an integrated ecosystem where MSW becomes a valuable energy resource.

Each facility is engineered for minimal environmental disturbance to surrounding communities, using advanced closed-loop gasification technology to convert municipal solid waste into clean electricity. The complete 30-facility portfolio will collectively generate stable, baseload power to substantially contribute to Google's data center electricity demands across North America. This reliable, round-the-clock power generation complements Google's solar and wind portfolios, providing the consistent energy required for AI infrastructure and cloud computing operations.

The facilities will participate in carbon credits markets, with a portion of revenue generated from carbon credits allocated to community outreach programs in operating states through state Community Benefit Boards to address local priorities.

"Reliable and scalable energy supply is becoming increasingly important in the development of advanced computing infrastructure. Expanding this platform into the United States reflects the value of evaluating dispatchable and lower-carbon energy solutions that can support long-term infrastructure needs while aligning with broader waste management objectives."

Broader Platform Strategy

The US expansion builds on the Circular Energy Platform's track record in Latin America and Europe, extending the partnership's approach of converting municipal solid waste into dispatchable, baseload power for data center infrastructure. The partnership exemplifies how circular economy solutions can simultaneously solve waste management challenges, power data center infrastructure, and strengthen local communities.

Any future project will remain subject to technical evaluation, commercial structuring, regulatory review, and definitive agreements. The parties stated that environmental controls, stakeholder engagement, and responsible community integration will be central to project development.
