Canada's utility-scale and distributed solar capacity has doubled to 6 GW over the past two years, with accelerating deployments driven by declining equipment costs and supportive federal and provincial policies. Solar is now the fastest-growing renewable energy source in Canada, with particular growth in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Provincial auction programs have awarded contracts for additional 5+ GW of future capacity. Analysts project Canada will exceed 20 GW of solar capacity by 2030.
